My Indiana Hoosiers have me: Sad, Bummed, Angry, Chagrined, and a Few Other Things
I will forgive them some if they can win this Saturday at home versus Wisconsin. But I am losing all faith. Sure, they have lost two key players to mid-season injuries, but they are too talented to lose all three games in 2023 as they have done. Getting up by 21 early to Iowa on the road, and unable to play enough defense to win, losing by two. Then the debacle last Sunday at home versus Northwestern. Ugh. Then tonight being sucker punched by Penn State, giving up 18 THREE POINTERS.
And that was not the only bad aspect of IU's game. (!!!) Ugh!!! Bad offense. Decisions. Team work. Individual play. Bad free throws. Turnovers.
It is messy. It is a mess. It is messed up.
Who to blame? The coach, Mike Woodson? Maybe. Probably should have been playing Anthony Leal a lot more all season. A guard from Bloomington who could do better than a lot of the guard and forward play all season. Many players have played well, but... They keep losing!
The fates? Senior guard Xavier Johnson hurt his foot. Out for at least another three weeks. His presence is heavily missed. Senior forward Race Thompson just went out for a month or so with a knee injury. We need him. Other players have missed games, including the top two other stars, Travis Jackson-Davis and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.
I hate some of these goofy players and their lack of prowess now. Jordan Jeronimo? Please, player! PLEASE. Malik Reneau has goofed up a lot. No freshman poise lately. I liked him early on against lesser talent. Bates? Ok. Galloway? Not good enough. Kopp? Way to slow and exploited.
Uh.... Even Trayce is not good enough. He got blocked three attempts down low in a row against Northwestern. Can't have it.
Ugh.
We have been bad for so long! It hurts.
We are bad again.
Ahh, how I can count the ways...
It's okay, though. It is only a game.
No worries. Other teams will take up the slack. Baylor, Gonzaga, Rutgers, Iowa State, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee... UCLA. Purdue.
Whatever.
Go IU. Fight, and fight on, and Boiler Up...
Indiana might turn it around. I just don't see it. They have a lot of youth. If Jalen and Malik can turn it up, and the other players get together, they may still save this would-be promising season. Till X and Race come back...
