Putin and Russia - Not too Smart

    We saw the warning signs of troops being amassed for months, and the longtime President of Russia committed to invading Ukraine. What an idiot. Murderer. Tyrant. Despot. Lots of bad things, we call this guy.

    Ukraine had 5 to 6 million people flee in the lead up to the incursion earlier this year, and now seven months later, many thousands are trying to flee Russia itself.  Vladimir Putin has called for 300,000 more troops to get involved and prepare to deploy into the neighboring land, a place where the Russians have occupied approximately 20 percent of this rather large European nation in the last half year. Most of the territory is ethnically Russian, and now connects old Russia proper to the Crimean Peninsula, captured or taken in 2014. 

    Russia has had a lot of troops killed, and many people are trying to come to grips with the death and destruction that has befallen the Russian military, which is significant. Ukraine, obviously, is going through much trauma, tragedy, and suffering. Volodymir Zelensky of the besieged country is doing to best to rally the loyalists and resist the larger one. It seems to be succeeding.

    Putin is threatening to use nuclear missiles or nuclear weaponry not only in Ukraine, but against other European neighbors.

    This is really insane.

    Sad.

    Devastating and wasteful.

    God bless Ukraine, bless the beleaguered Russians, and all the rest of it.

    May this end and end quickly.
