Home School Fans Episode 2: Week 1 Predictions and Projections

Home School Fans Episode 2: Week 1 Predictions and Projections

I will look at the seven teams covered this season, I will look at Athlon Sports' projections for their seasons, and will size up this weekend's games. This is the time to shine. Or sink. Is that a mixed metaphor? Or something less than literate? Yeah.

I let a few days go by, and thought that I would put this off till today (Friday) and tomorrow, most of all week 1, has happened. But, nah, I am going to write this up, per team. Not in order.

    FSU Bulldogs
First, Fresno State. They took care of Cal Poly (FCS), 35-7. Last night. Athlon Sports predicts that the Bulldogs will go 9-4, 6-2 in in the Mountain West, which is first place, and will play the Toledo Rockets in the Arizona Bowl. Whenever that is. Probably after Christmas but before New Year's. In my Lindy's Sports mag, I have them losing to Oregon State, which is iffy, Boise State, and San Diego State. If they beat a team like the Rockets in a bowl, that would be a 10-3 season. Not bad.

BYU has to play some extraordinary ball to outdo that record. I am concerned with the overall winning percentage, if you had forgotten.

We can never be sure after the blowout of the predicted 11th of 12 Big Sky conference first game of the season on September 2, how good this team is. The Beavers next week should prove instructive. They are forecasted as 46th nationally, 5-4 in the PAC-12, and they have to alight in the San Joaquin Valley. That is Fresno.

Indiana is tonight. Maybe I should wait till the first game is over? Yes, makes sense! Who else plays today, in my list of seven? Nobody else. The other five play tomorrow, Saturday. Utah has a big one in the Swamp of Gainesville, Texas A&M has a local FCS opponent, UVA has Richmond, of the FCS (former Division 1-AA), and BYU is going for its win ever in the state of Florida. About time, Cougars! Get 'er done.

DUN.

More by tomorrow, with the Hoosier results.
