Hershey Park Poem - April 2022

Hershey Park Poem - April 2022

Dedicated to the Clinch girl who has had made memories here, but in Richmond presently

Sunny, fun, fun --
So many people under the sun.
We drove up from VA
Looking for the end of the week's run.

Here we are, into the zoo,
Dr. Seuss has nothing on me and you:
Oh, the places we have gone!

One if by snake,
Two if by armadillo!
These little up-armored varmints snuggle
each other, their plated bellies swelling
with crowded air, the hundreds of pesky,
smellier sapiens sauntering - LOUDLY
        by their inner corner sanctum

Owls, one-eyed
Vultures, hidden seals - DON'T DISTURB
Outdoor animals
A bear's snout
Bobcats and lynxes

--Dad, sitting this one out --
In the posed buck's shadow

More people than the norm
From all the States, and other places
The whole world
Fills this zoo

On Jackie Robinson day
a day for taxes
early weekend
Pleasant, calm weather
Few masks; I see a few. PANDEMIC NO MORE!

The big, supine porcupine.
30 thousand quills!
The mountain pronghorn:
Second fastest land animal!

On beyond zebra,
Mein Doktor!
Hershey Park Extravaganza!

I will eat those green eggs and ham, Sam I am!
