Have you Done Drugs Lately? Have you Killed Anyone Recently?
Most of us end up taking drugs for health reasons. I certainly have this year. I have had multiple ailments that have necessitated the ingress of drugs, from both over the counter to prescribed drugs. Thank goodness we have them. They save us, heal us, placate us, remediate us. When they work, they are the best thing ever. This is medicine, hopefully properly used.
Then we have what we call recreational drugs. Some of them are sold legally. Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, and now marijuana in many ever growing areas.
It is a high stakes business, both legally and in the illegal world. In the hyper-competitive market of producing, disseminating, and selling illicit drugs, there is a lot of violence. This is a natural by-product of this sort of market. The profit margins are so tantalizing and robust, thousands of people put their lives on the line to make it work.
By being part of the illegal drug business, to include buying and using, we contribute to the death cycle of those that are caught in the cross hairs. It's a rough business, criminality and the money flows through them.
Drugs is not all that many of them do. There is racketeering, smuggling, including human trafficking, extortion, kidnapping. Many crimes add up to a lot of money. But violence is part and parcel to it.
Death, pain, heartache and loss.
Drugs are supposed to help us. But, to recreate? Hmmmm...
Let the juries decide. We decide how much and how often we take drugs.
We also know a lot about addictions...
