Divided Loyalties
I cannot blame others for having their loyalties divided.
Their hearts twisted and turned, at times.
Or tempted.
Because I know myself, too.
What hypocrite be I,
If I were to cast stones upon the woman in the street?
Caught in excruciating shame
A victim herself,
Of hunger, poverty, bereavement
Or a hundred other powerful, and human, and sometimes
Overwhelming and even niggling things
Who am I to judge?
Who judges me?
The same who will judge us all.
To Him I give my cares.
And yours, too.
