The Relativity of Economics

 The Relativity of Economics

The wealth of nations and individuals depends greatly on time, circumstances, luck, hard work, and a few other things. Perhaps divine providence or scientific gifts and endowments. War and pestilence can affect these matters, on small or big scales. Intelligence of those who work, own, and create services that may continue in the way of success or failure can build or diminish wealth. The United States is the wealthiest and strongest country in the world today (2024), so it is possible to be ingenuitive (not a word, or at least recognized) and amass wealth in margins in the excess here. It is possible to accrue much wealth in most of the countries of the earth. But things have to be secure and safe enough to do so.

Even in perilous and fraught places, there are those who earn a lot of money and generate mini empires of wealth. There are multiple billionaires across the planet in the 21st century, and even more millionaires. That is not to say that the vast majority of the world is full of those who survive on little or no income, barely making ends meet. And, there is a huge number of us in between, living

Wealth, power, and security are relative, like Einstein has proven with time. Things change, depending on where and how, and what. I saw today that an NPR radio guy who is two years older than me makes four times my income. He has written a few well researched book, is very smart and accomplished, known to millions. His worth is bigger than mine, but mine is bigger than other Americans, and compared to millions in smaller or poorer countries, my individual or family wealth is huge.

I have lived with such people. I have been served in other countries, by people of lowlier stations and circumstances, labor-wise and economically. Some of them wanted to come to the United States, or perhaps go to Europe, and have a chance at a higher way of life. Stuck in

Best of luck. Or, prayers and wishes for blessings. Maybe a windfall of the natural order is in demand to help those that lack in financial ways to come out of the struggles of poverty and want.

It says in the holy scriptures, of which many of us believe in, that we will always have the poor. And, we work hard to not be among them. For the rest of us of all socioeconomic classes, we try to buoy them up, the impoverished and underprivileged. This is through taxation and government services, charities, pro bono projects and other efforts by many of the well-meaning folks of the world.

Karl Marx had plans to help the masses overcome the fight for decent wealth and survival. Too many bad people took its plans and implemented further misery, and to add to it, horror. Despotism. Deprivation. Wars and oppression.

Economics does not have to be this miserable.

Relatively speaking, we should be able to manage.

    Best wishes.
