Home School Fans Episode 6: Week 5 - Utah Up, Aggies Down, BYU: Eh

Home School Fans Episode 6: Week 5 - Utah Up, Aggies Down, BYU: Eh

Somewhat of an eventful week for my selected college teams. Quick rapid recap: Utah good, Aggies of Texas A&M sinking fast, BYU okay, JMU is ballin', UVA is not that good, FSU is worse, and Indiana... May not be good enough.

Where to start? Texas A&M has fallen hard. After already being upset by the Appy State Mountaineers, and getting lucky to the highly touted Razorbacks of Arkansas, the Aggies are thrashed by the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 42-24. The Aggies fell in the CBSSports.com poll 23 points to 43rd overall, right next to 3-2 Notre Dame. Sorry Aggies, Alabama is next, and while not super-duper as usual the last dozen plus years, I think it is safe to say the Ags are going to take loss number 3. I would LOVE it if it were not so and Alabama lost, but realistically speaking, thinking, analyzing, Texas A&M is sinking. I hope I am wrong, truly. I had the Aggies as 12-0 for the season. Little did I know.

Utah is now back on track to where many thought they should be, a top ten team. (Technically number 11). But some had them even elite four, which may not be true, now losing their All-American tight end, and the running game being so-so. CBS has them at number 11, with impressive 4-0 UCLA ranked 18th next. Should be a good game, maybe. Right? The Bruins may prove better; they put a beat down on the formerly powerful Washington Huskies. At least offensively. Huskies could not slow them down much.

The BYU Cougars have struggled in the first half against the Cowboys of Wyoming and the Aggies of Utah State. Neither one is that good, really. Brigham Young has played MEH since the throttling to the Ducks of Oregon. Hurt, physically and emotionally, the Cougs need to be a lot better against Notre Dame in Vegas this Saturday. Notre Dame is not all that, but they have played better as of late. BYU ranked 19, the Irish at 42. But that disparity is deceiving, me thinks.

End of Part I. More on the Dukes, the Cavs, the Hoosiers, and the FSU Bulldogs next time. In Part II.
