Virtue versus Vice

 Virtue versus Vice

In the beginning and in the end, that is what it is all about. Virtue means to make things right, while vice wishes to destroy and ruin. Which should we choose? It should be obvious.

But a lot of people get it twisted, and it is not all our fault. We get confused and deceived.

Some are forced to be envious and greedy based on the needs of Mazlo, which is not always their fault. Perhaps the Chinese and Russians have been so cursed. We think that we have it bad in the United States and North America. And some have had it much worse than others, true. Native Americans, the African enslaved. Other minorities and many whites have had bad times.

But the United States, Canada, even Mexico has faired better than those mammoth, historic nations. Nations of many peoples, where most have learned to deal with the oppressive, awful, regimes and quagmires in which they have found themselves. Now they thrust themselves mightily onto the world stage, pushing and clambering as they can, as they will to do.

Individually we make choices about our virtues and vices. We can rise to the goodness and charity of the best of values, or we can sink into the morasses of poor decisions, habits, acts that are not edifying nor productive.

Families, communities, governments. Churches, synagogues, mosques, temples of the Hindus and the Buddhists, and then there are the agnostic, atheist, or at least secular associations and groups.

We make our own and collective choices, some of which lead us to pleasure, pain, short term payoffs, or long term successes.

Are our U.S. presidents more virtuous or vicious? Does viciousness come from vice, is that the same root?

Whatever the root, we must decide every day, and even moment by moment, what we wish to accomplish.

Let us pick virtue, even in thoughts and especially in deeds.

May we figure out how to do so, be it with faith in Allah, Yahweh, Jesus, or whichever system and cause leads us there.

Millions, maybe billions, thought Marxism was the way.

    Hmmm.

    Virtues and vices.
