Britain has produced many great writers, arguably.
Lately I have read W. Somerset Maugham and it has been enjoyable.
George Orwell is maybe my favorite, but perhaps has not influenced me more than C.S. Lewis, or even J.R.R. Tolkien.
There are many others in other countries.
